COMMERCIAL. LONDON WOOL SALES. By Electric Telegraph. — Copyright. • LONDON, March 10. There were 9289 bales catalogued at to-day's wool sale. A capital selection of crossbreds and miscellaneous lots of merinos was offered. There was a crowded attendance, which included representatives from all the centres, including many Americans. Merinos are showing all-round advance of 5 per cent, on the closing rates of the February sales. Best merinos were un changed. Top making sorts advanced 5 per cent. Everybody was bidding. NEW ZEALAND DEBENTURES. LONDON, March 10. New Zealand is placing on the market half a million three and a quarter per cent Treasury Bonds, repayable in April, 1912. LONDON MARKETS. (Received March 11, 9 a.m.) LONDON, March 10. At the tallow auctions 1479 casks were offered and 344 sold. Mutton, fine, sold at 33s 6d, medium 30s 6d ; beef, fine 325, medium 30s 6d. Copper.— On the spot £56 ' 12s 6d, three months £57 8s 9d, electrolytic £58. Tin.— Three months £131 10s. Silver, 23 3-16 d. RISE IN WOOL. (Received March 11, 10.50 a.m.) LONDON, March 10. The American visible supply of wheat is 62,370,000 quarters. There is an exceptionally keen competition at full opening rates for all qualities of wool. HIGH COMMISSIONER'S CABLE. A cable from the High Commissioner dated March 10 states: — Tho second wool sales havo commenced wdth si large number of Home, Continental and American buyers. The competition for all descriptions is spirited compared with the closing rates of last sale.
