WEBSTER BROS. REPORT.

Messrs Webster Bros.' report: — On Saturday last we had an extra large entry of poultry. Prices, as is usual so near Christmas, showed a slight decline. They were* as follows: — Chicks 5d to 9d, old hens s ls 6d to Is Bd, good table hens 2s to 2s 9d, cockerels 9d to 2s 4d, ducks 2s ,to 2s 6d, ducklings (forward) Is 9d to 2s, good young goslings 3s to 3s 6d, turkeys (good gobblers) 8s to 9s 6d, (poor) 5s to 6s 6d, hens 2s 6d to ss, guinea fowls 2s to 2s 6d.

Fruit — We have now decided to increase our space for the handling of fresh fruit, and have taken over Mr Newton King's late fruit mart in James Lane, whet, ourr fruit sales will in future be held. This week fruit has come forward in large supplies. We quote: 'Frisco apples las to 16s 6d, American navel oranges 18s 6d to 19s 6d, bananas (very short supplies) 2fd per lb and 12s to 14s case, cucumbers 2s 6d to 4s 6d doz, cherry plums 4s 3d to 6s 3d, Burbanks 6s to 7s 6d, Eyahs' Early 5s 9d to 7s, peaches 8s to 9s 9d, apricoj* 12s 6d to 13s 6d, tomatoes 5d to B£dper lb, strawberries Is 2d to Is 3^d — all according to quality, marrows 3s 9d case, lemons 2s, green peas lOd to Is o£d per peck, nr^t season's grapes 2s to 2s Id per lb.
