PATEA RACING CLUB. ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING.

The Patea Racing Club held its an'nvrttf general meeting' in the Borough Council Chambers on Tuesday evening, thejpresident (Mr H. O. Clarke) being in the chair.

The balance-sheet showing a credit balance of £932 13s lid was adopted. The report of the Finance Committee stated : — • v

' 'That all the work sanctioned by the Club at its last meeting had been put in hand, and most of it completed. The track had been finished at a cost of £187 10s. The contractor for the erection of the inside fence was making fair headway with the work, and hoped to have it finished before the ena of this month. The cost of the new fence will be about £100. During the year the grandstand and other buildings had, been painted. The committee recommended. That the new portion of the track be fenced on the inside, to prevent any possibility of an accident during a race, and the rest of the track be fenced later on, as funds permit." The report was adopted. The following officers were elected : President, Mr H. O. Clarke; vice-pre-sidents, Messrs G. V. Pearce, M.P., and S. Gilligan; judge, Mr A. Pearce; treasurer, Mr G. Booth, clerk of scales, Mr J. Patersonj auditor, Mr J. K. Mitchell; committee and stewards, Messrs J. Paterson, A. Pearce, 3. McCarty, T. Jones, G. Williams, C. Honeyfield, W. Rigg, L. G. Bremer, T. CampbelL It was decided to hold the annual race meeting on Easter Monday. A meeting of the committee was held subsequentlyl Mr G. Williams was elected chairman.

The following appointments were made: — Handicapper, Mr V. E. McRae, at a fee of seven guineas, clerk of course, Mr P. Eastbury; totalisator steward, Mr Graham ; secretary, Mr R. W. Hamerton; finance and course committee, Messrs Williams, Booth, A. Pearce, J. McCarty and Honeyfield.
