FIGHT FOR LIFE AT SEA.

SHIPWRECKED MAN ATTACKED BY DOGS. PARIS, October 8. The only survivor of the schooner Juanita, which was sunk last month on the Banks of Newfoundland while fishing, has arrived at Granville, after a most dramatic experience. The survivor is the captain of the boat, named Ybert. The schooner, which had a crew of fifteen men, sprang a leak in a heavy storm and soon filled, in spite of the efforts of the crew. The fifteen men got into a boat and left before the ship settled down. The captain, however, refused to leave his ship. When it sank he succeeded in swimming to a raft, his two dogs following him. From there the captain saw the boat containing the crew sink and all the men perish. For thirtyisix hours the unfortunate man remained clinging to the plank, beating off, as best he could, the two dogs, who went mad with hunger and tried to devour him. He was reluctantly forced to kill them with his knife. Captain Ybert was eventually rescued by another schooner, the crew of which nursed him back to life. He is still very weak, and the doctors fear that he will lose his reason.
