MANGOREI.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) October 30.— Mr. C. E. Bellringer gave a political address in the Upper Schoolroom on Wednesday 28th inst. There was not many electors present, but they gave the candidate an attentive hearing and at the close accorded him a hearty vote of thanks for his interesting address. The next evening (Thursday) Mr Okey addressed a large and enthusiastic gathering in the same place, and in an able address expounded his poli-j tical views, and also gave a review of some of the work done by Parliament during the time he had represented the electorate. His description of the means used by some members to block measures they did not agree with was an eyoopener to most of the electors present. A vote of thanks to, and confidence in Mr Okey as the representative of this electorate was then put to the meeting and carried without a dissenting voice. A further hearty vote of thanks Was accorded Mr Okey for the" able manner in which he had got the Harbour Bill through the House. We have had a bout of cold, stormy weather lately, which has lowered the milk supply somewhat, but, owing to the mild spring, the feed has got too far advanced to receive, much of a check, and a return of warm weather will soon right things again. Mr Abraham, late of Stanley Road, Midhii'st, has purchased the farms lately occupied by Messrs Husband and Parsons in this district and has started milking. I hear that Mr Ivey is also going to milk on his large farm (known as Carrick's). If so, the milk supply at the .local creamery ought to be greater this season than ever before.
