BELL BLOCK.

(Fiom Our Own Correspondent.) October 30. — A very enjoyable evening was spent in the hall last night, when about seventy persons attended a coming-of-age party. Mr and Mis J. Holmes, sen., being host and hostess, and Mr Albert Holmes the "new man. Vocal duots were rendered by Misses Rico and Stephen, Gilbert, and a song was given by Miss Bishop. Miss Holmes contributed a recitation, and Mr Knopman a song. At supper the health of Mr A. Holn>es was drunk. The party continued until 3.30 a.m. Mr James supplied the music. The annual plain, poster, and fancy dress ball, hold here on Tuesday night, October 20, was a great success. Between sixty and seventy couples nrre present. The fancy and poster dresses were much admired. The committee offered ladies' and men's prizes for the best fancy or poster chess, the winners being selected by ballot. Miss Stephen (witch) won the ladies' prize by a lary;e majority. Miss Connett (fairy) being second. Mr A. Holmes (Father Christmas) ua.s successful among tho mm, Mr N. Street (tramp) being runner-up. Several splendid poster costumes wcto worn, among >them being Miss Pole (Bell Block butter). Miss Crowe (Waitara Free-zing Works), and Mr K. C. King (Bell Block Factory). Other fancy costumes wero (ladies) cigarette giils, ftarlight.
