OKOKE ROAD.
/ (From a Correspondent.) / ■'■*, October 24. — Our new school, inf .^charge of Mr Fenton, was opened o£ sMonday, October 12. In the evening! ia highly successful concert and danqg yvas held, presided over by Mr Rogers*; Ja capital concert programme wasisenincluding songs by Mr and Mrs W. Wilkes (Waitara). Miss Wilson, and Messrs Pope and Scholefield (Urenui), Miss Ross, Gwe.n Weston, and Messrs H. Weston, Stains and Fenton (Okoke). a comic recitation by Mr C. Weston, and phonograph selections by Mr Darke. A sumpttlous' supper was pro- i vided by tho ladies of the district, and was in charge of Mesdames Ross, Weston, andl/ee. The concert was followed by a dance, and everything went with a swing. Numbers of visitors were present from Waitajrar-»nd v Urenui. No charge was made for- admission, everything being provided by $he settlers. A word of praise 13' due to Miss L. A. Ross and Messrs H. Weston and D. McDonald, who worked hard to ensure the success of the gathering.
