TARANAKI ASSOCIATION.
A meeting of the Taranaki Lawn Tennis Association was held on Saturday evening. Present : Dr. Leatham (president), Messrs H. Stocker (representing Waitara and W. Y.M.1., Stratiord), J. J. Weir (Hawera), J. C. Nicholson (Waverley), H. B. Armitage (Paten), and the hon. secretary, Mr .J . Paton.
A li-tior was received from the Canterbury Association recommending that certain ultom lions in the constitution of the New Zealand Council should he made at the annual meeting of the New Zealand Association to be held vii the 30th. The. amendments aimed at giving associations outside Wellington a more effective voice in the affairs of the Now Zealand Association. Also it was pointed out that the New Zealand Council claimed the power to forbid matches between affiliated clubs and non-affiliated clubs. This power, the Canterbury Association considered, should be vested in the local associations, which had a better opportunity of becoming acquainted with special circumstances.
Th© meeting appointed a sub-pom-mittee tT> consider tho questions at a meeting on Monday. The action of the secretary, in asking Messrs M. E. Denniston and R. S. Guy to act as additional delegates for Taranaki to the New Zealand Association, was confirmed.
