OTTAWA, Oct. 22
The Premier of the Dominion, Sir Wilfrid Laurier, has announced that, if the revenue continues to increase at the present rate, the construction of the Georgian Bay Canal to be made 20 feet deep and to cost £19,000,000 will be begun the moment the Transcontinental Railway is completed.
[This canal would give easy transit from Lakes Superior, Michigan and Huron to the St. Lawrence River.]
