ROYAL PICTURES.
Although the evening was boisterous ami very short not ire of the entertainment had been given to the public, the Royal Pictures drew a good attendance to the Theatre Royal last evening. The high reputation of the syndicate was fully sustained by the programme. Better pictures have never been seen in New Plymouth. Not only were they clear and distinct in every detail, but they were well-assorted. Some of the pictures thrown upon the screen were very beautiful. Especially so were the films depicting the Victoria Falls on the Zambesi River and Sunny Madeira. In both films there were" turbulent watei effects that showed to what remarkable perfection the biograph has been brought. Another excellent picture illustrated a bear-hunt in the "-now-bound interior of Russia, in which the flight and death of a huge bear are <-hown with great clearness. A film entitled "Peculiar People," which depicts- an exceedingly clever, marionette show, and which in addition contains some very pretty effects, was also of a. high order of merit. The dramatic and humorous pictures shown were of striking originality and quality. The syndicate, which intends to send its touring machine to New Plymouth once a week as soon as possible, has certainly clearly demonstrated to the local public that it has undeniable claims lor now (led houses.
