"THE LITTLE BREADWINNER."
"The Little Breadwinner" is described as a play of child interest, with one of the cleverest Australian child actresses, Miss Queenie. (Williams, in the name part. The play appears on Monday night at the Theatre Royal. "The Little .Breadwinner* is a play in four acts by Mr H. C. Campbell. There is said* to be a good /deal or quaintness and originality in the, development of the, Xtory"*^— rays of sunshine glint through the deep dells, of villainy of the plot, and, when peht-iip Baturte can stand ■no more, a surfeit -of genuine bright cpmedy to relieve the emotional passages.^ The child interest is_ paramount throughout, and perhaps" there is no more beloved, character in the whole gamut of known child characters than Meg, the little breadwinner and good fairy of the- household. The scenes are* -centred round Quaker home, whose head is a stern peer! of the British realm,* and who wrongfully turns his son from his doors through the machinations of his secretary, a true prototype of Dickens' Uriah Heap. Included in the, cast are -mjfny ; members favourably known to Australian audiences, including Messrs G. P. Carey, F. Coupe, and C. R. Stanford, and Miss Beatrice Holloway. The box plan is at the Dresden, where day Bales are now being made.
