AFTER THIRTY-EIGHT YEARS.

HOW A FATHER FOUND HIS LONG-LOST DAUGHTER. PARIS. July 30. No writer of romance has ever conceived a story more extraordinary than that which ends with the finding of his daughter by M. Amilcare Cipriani after thirty-eight years. M. Amilcare Cipriani is a well-known Italian r evolutionary. 1n ,1869 he was a refugee in London earning his living as a photographer. He there made the acquaintance of Miss, Adolfina Rue, with whom he fell desperately in love, and whom he married. The couple were living happily, at ! Oxford Market, in Marylebone, England, when, on September 4, 1870, the revolution broke out in Franco, and the Empire came to an end. Already a little daughter had been born to them, who was then seven months old, ! and bore the original name of Fulvia |Lavinia Itala Roma Cipriani, but no considerations of family could restrain Cipriani's revolutionary ardour. I He hastened to Paris, fought through the Commune, and was rewarded with life-long penal servitude in New Caledonia. From that day his wife and daughter were lost to him. Ton years afterwards he was pardoned, but when he reached England all trace of his loved ones had vanished! All that he could learn was that his wife was dead. For twenty-eight years the old revolutionary, who fcad settled in Paris, hoped against hope that one day his daughter might be restored to him. Many a time ne appeared to be on the rjght track, only to be more bitterly disappointed. "3L» few weeks ago, however, he received a letter from the well-known Parisian humorist, M. Jacques "Wely, in which the writer said that he had [reason to believe that his wife was Cipriani's daughter. Inquiry followed; and it was definitely proved that such is the case. For years father and daughter have been living in the same city, each longing to find the* other, and yet never dreaming of their proximity.
