WAITARA CLUB.
The annual meeting of the Waitara Cricket Club was held at Waitara on Saturday evening. Mr Buchanan occupied the chair.
The statement of accounts showed a cash balance of 18s 4d.
The following officers were elected: President, Mr W. Birdling; vice presidents, Messrs G. H. Stuhbs, H. C. Vaughan, A. T. Tate; captain Mr W. E. Skelton; vice-captain, Mr J. Eggleston; secretary and treasurer, ' Mr A. Hawkins; committee, Messrs Bodley, Dowsett, E. Sarten; selection committee, Messrs Hawkins, Eggleston, and Bodley. The subscriptions were fixed at 10s for seniors, 5s for juniors, and 2s 6d honorary members. The following members were elected : Dr. Claridge, Rev. J. B. Brbcklehurst, J. Sarten, W. Bond, H. Spurdle, T. Buchanan and H. Taylor. It was resolved that the- players selected to play should contribute 6d per week towards the cost of keeping the ground in order. The opening day wag fixed for Thursday, October 1. A match will be played between the chosen eleven and all comers. s Mr C. F. Dowsett was appointed delegate to the Association: A special compliment was paid to the secretary, Utr .Hawkins, for the energetic -manner in which he had , carried out his duties. ' '
Mr Dowsett stated that the piece of ground next to the police station would be available for practice: Mr H. Taylor promised $0 donate a bat to be given to the player making the best average during the season.
The annual meeting of* the Carringtqn Road Cricket Club' will be held tonight at 8 o'clock . at. Messrs Webster and McKellar's office, Qtirrie Street.
