NOLAN xiND CO.'S REPORT

Messrs L. A. Nolan and Co. report : On Wednesday 2nd inst. «c held our monthly sale of hides, skins, etc., in our Brougham Street store. A good catalogue, full complement of buyers, and upward tendency all round made business brisk. Hides generally showed an upward tendency ; this being particularly noticeable in light hides and in calfskins, while heavy cows showed a slight advance on last month's quotations. Sheepskins held at about last month's rates with a slight tendency towards improvement, equal to about id a pound. Tallow held at about last month's rates. We quote :

Hides. — Ox (no stout oxtering), medium substance s|d, medium s^d to sid, light 5d to s£d, cow heavy washed 4|d to oid, medium 4Jd to 4^d, light 4sd to 4sd, butchers' slightly wet, heavy 4gd, medium 4sd to 4fd, light 3|d to 4£d, settlers' good 3jd to 4|d, damaged and cut cow 3d to 3|d, according to condition, ox 4^d to od, stags and bulls good washed 3d to 3fd, settlers' 3d to 3&d, horse 3s 6d to 9s, yearlings 3|d to 4jd, damaged 2^d to 3§d, calfskins good washed 7j|d, good settlers' 6%d to 6|d, second quality 4£d, damaged 2|d to 3^d, slinks 6d each.

Sheepskins. — Good dry woolly 3s 6d to 4s 3d, medium 3s to 3s 9d, light 2s 8d to 3s 3d, salted 3s 6d to 4s od, medium 3s to 3s 9d, damaged 6d to Is 6d.

Wool. — Crutchings ljd, bag wool mixed 3d to 3}d.

Tallow— Casks medium 22s 9d to 235, tins 255. Tails, Is per dozen.
