Th© police party pursuing Major and three other natives implicated in the murders of Fettel and Davis at Turkey Creek on August 12 succeeded in running them to earth. The murderers were* armed, and several shots were exchanged. The police shot dead Major and two of his companions, Nipper and Debby, and captured five other natives. There were no police casualties. [Fettel, a station manager, and Davis, tho station cook, were murdered in bed by the blacks.]
