NEWTON KING'S REPORT.

Mr. Newton King reports: At Tataraimaka on Friday, August 27, I held a clearing sale on account of Mr. O. Oxenham. There was a good attendance, and everything sold at a satisfactory price. The cows were a good lot, but were looking rough, and, a good number having calved, prices were not so high as would otherwise have obtained. The horses were keenly competed for, and sold remarkably well. ' Cows in milk made from deTlOs to £8 ss, springers £5 to £8 10s, late calvers £3 10s to £5, calves 14s 6d, store pigs 7s 6d, baconers £3 15s, draught mares £32 to £37, colts £25 10s to £36 10s, filly £25 10s, unbroken horses £13 to £17. On Monday at Veale Road there was a rather small attendance at the sale of Meesre. Marrett Bros.' dairy cows, but prices were quite up to average ruling rates. September calvers made £7 ss. On account of Mr. Houston, £4 7s 6d to £6, October £4 6s to early calvers were sold at £6 15s to £8, "late and empty £2 to £4. At Rahotu on Tuesday there was an average yarding and attendance. Mixed yearlings made 13s to 265, 18ntonths empty heifers £2 2s, 15-months steers 355, 2-year £2 19s, springing heifers £4 to £4 12s 6d, store cows 38s to 455, fat £5 Is, bulls £3 10s. On Wednesday at Urenui 1 held a clearing sale on account of Mr. E. Fitton. The herd wns a large one. The cows were in rather low condition and a good number backward. There was a good attendance, and with the help of soveral outside buyers everything was quitted at v satisfactory price. . All cows showing quality sold

at really good prices. Pigs and implements sold well. Cows at full profit £5 10s to £9 15s, springing %nd in calf £3 7s 6d to £6 15s, aged and backward calvers £2 5s to £4 10s, Shorthorn bulls £2 15s to £3 10s, calves on the bucket 2s 9d, sows in farrow £2 15s to £4 los, boars £1 10s to £4, heifers in calf £2 2s to £2 7s, 2-year steers £2 13s, mixed weaners 18s, horse-power* £9 10s, d.f. plough £11, mower £14 10s, disc harrows £10, milk cans 10s to 295. The same day at Tututawa Mr. P. Barclay's sale of dairy stock was well attended, and good prices were realised. Early calvers made £5 15s to £8, late £3 10s ,to £4 ss, springing heifers £5 12s 6d to £6 ss, mixed weaners 18s 6d, store pigs 13s to 295, breeding sows £3, sows with litters £6 to £7 15s. At Waiwakaiho on Thursday there was a good yarding and fair attendance. Yearling heifers 235, steers 25s to 40s, 15 to 18-months heifers 31s, springing cows £3 to £8, springing heifers £2 17s 3d to £4 2s 6d. choice £7 10s. Three choice half-bred Jersey heifers from Mr. W. Peattie brought £6 15s to £9, fat cows £4 5s to £5, store cows 35s to 455.
