DIVORCE.

PROOF OF DESERTION. 4HT 5 l Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Aug. 28. Wife desertion at Hobart was the ground of a divorce obtained this morning by Jessie Foreman against William Thomas Foreman, portraitpainter. The case was partially heard by Mr. Justice Cooper yesterday, and adjourned until to-day for further evidence. His Honour held that the proof of desertion stood upon Mrs. Foreman's evidence that she had riot been supported by her husband, nor. lived with him for five years. This was .supported by independent testimony, and under the circumstances his Honour could accept petitioner's evidence as to the maintenance order made by the Magistrate against the respondent on October 1, 1903, at Hobart. This established that some time prior to the date in question respondent had deserted petitioner. A decree nisi, to be made absolute at the expiration of three months, was granted, and costs on the lowest scale awarded against the respondent. INVERCARGILL, Aug. 28. In the divorce case Morrison v. Morrison and Forbes," husband's petition on the ground of adultery, a decree nisi was granted, to be made absolute m three months; the husband to have custody of three children, The co-re-spondent was ordered to pay £50 damages.
