CONFERENCE AT MELBOURNE.
(Received August 18, 9:p5 a.m.) MELBOURNE, August 18. An inter-State conference representative bf football organisations discussed the question of establishing a universal Australian game. In reply to a question one delegate declarea that tjheVe was no prospect whaterer of the Rugby authorities civing way in regard to the off-side rule. Another then'said : "That settles it." Mr McKeown, of New Zealand, said he thought a game could' l«e evolved which would be the Australian game perfected. The Northern Union same as played by the professional All-Blacks ik»Q come to stay in* New Zealand. *No ><lecisior> was' reached by the conference.
