AUCKLAND, August 15.
Admiral Sperry, in his final .'icssage to tho colony, through the Governor, states : .
"On the eve of the departure of the American Atlantic neet from Auckland, tho Commander-in-Chief desires, on behalf of the officers and men, to express to you our hearty thanks fo<- the cordial reception and generous hospitality accorded the fleet by the Government and people *of the Dominion. The friendship and esteem existing between the British Empire and the United States cannot fail to be strengthened by a» visit. of this nature, which will bring to both nations a realisation of their close relationship and their common interests, and Avill foster sympathy and mutual understanding, which are more binding than treaties.".
