The Local Government Board has issued a return Showing that during the year ending March last 90,057 applied for relief under the Unemployed Workmen Act. There were 32,624 in London and 57,435 in the provinces— 3ooo more than in the previous year. The increase was chiefly in London. The chief depression was in the engineering, shipbuilding, and iron, steel , and other metal trades. (
