AUCKLAND, May 3(K The Auckland* Racing Club's winter meeting begins to-day in fine weather, though the course is somewhat heavy. Results: — _ ' Maiden Steeplechase. — Good Faith 1, Cinque 2, Lady Lanta 3. Scratched: Romany King, Tokainui, ..and- Royal Shot. Bullworth led to the old water jump, where he fell. Good faith came to the front and won by two lengths. Time, 4min 57sec. Maiden Hurdles.— Pierre 1, Tui 2, Noteorini 3. Scratched: Pukenui, Pearl Necklet, Lady Meg, Re gel, and Hikuai. Pierre and Tui raced to the last fence, together, the former staying' longest and winning by a bare length. Time, 3min 28sec. ' Jervois Handicap. — Wauchope 1, Doggerbank 2, Octoroon 3. ' Scratched : Mark Time,. Lady Betty, Glenora, and Elenofa. Wauchope assumed the lead after going" half a furlong and was pever headed, . winning easily, by a length. Time, Imin 6 2~ssec, i Great Northern Hurdles^ — Waipu 1> Sol 2, Lady Hune 3. -Scratched.; Manoe, Hautapu. Prospector, Defeat, and Kapakapa. Omfcti, Paritutu, and Aprangi were leading three fences from home, where aH fell, leaving Waipu and Sol in the lead. They fought out a great finish, Waipu winning lay two lengths! Time, 5.8.
