Adam Middtemiss, a bo> of fifteen, t was. charged with- having placed an ob-i .•fttruction* on ttie Kingston Railway: Fortunately the train was going uphill at the time of the alleged offence, and the driver was able to null up, but not bofpre the engine had passed over one piece of iron. The Magistrate said it was no use fending the boy to gaol and ho was too old for an industrial school. He ordered that he should re- . ceive twelve strokes of the birch rod.
