KOHURATAHI.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) Toe weather has at last taken a change. We are now getting a very cold snap, but the grass is looking well. There is plenty, of feed, which, rf the - weather. Is at all favourable, should run us well into the winter. The St. .Fatriok, sports .were held on the 17th. They were a pronounced success, - some three hundred people being present. The events, were wqU tot. The cosaniittee spared no pains to' make all enjoy themselves. Following are ths results of the principal events :-rßoys under six— W.lzitt 1, -D. O'&eefe 2. Girls under 15 (Mrs. Wells' special prize)— L. Daviß 1, C. Rogers 2f Boys under 12-rP. Shewery 1, X Hodge 2. Girls under B— -Ivy iiitt 1, J, Abbott 2. Girls under 1&~ A. Hodge 1, R. Jones 2. Boys i under 14— B^Izitt 1, H. Cornwall 2, R. Hill 3. Men's Chain Stepping— J. McCarty 1, H. McLeod 2, D. Joyce 3. This event was well competed for, and caused a deal of excitement. Only half an inch separated the first and second! and the third was Only on© inch away. Mr. Master's special prize —W.Gleeson jun. 1, A. ;pwis 2 ; ; a splendid race. Baby show— Mrs. Stockwell 1. 100 yards— F. Cldand .1, Jones 2, Bowers 3. The sheep-guessing competition caused a deal of interest. Several guessed very near the weight. Messrs. Stockwell and Morrow- tied and divided the stakes. The tu»of-war Married v. Single was won by jbhe married men after a hard tussle. In the evening a dance was held m the Kohuratahi Hall. The hall was taxed to its utmost, some two hundred being present. This, I think, is a record attendance. Mr. H. McLeod was M..C. He was assisted by several of the oommittee. Songs were 1 contributed by Miss J. Hill (encored^and Mr. Kennedy. ~ The dance music was supplied by Messrs. Schneider (violin) and G. Thomas (piano). . ' The committee desires to thank Mrs. Jamieson for attending 'to the refreshments at the sports, and, Messrs Hight Brosi for the sheep. The success qf the affak ;^s lirgely contributed to by, Mr. J. Wade's pipe music aiid dancing both at the sports and at the dance.
