THE MILK STANDARD.
PROTEST AGAINST HIGH TEST REQUIRED. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, March 25. A conference of members of the A. and P. Association, Milk Suppliers' Association, and Milk Vendors' Association was held this afternoon to' protest Against the milk standard set by the new health and food regulations, requiring a 3.25 test. Mr John Masscy referred to the difficulties which would confront tho dairy farmers under the new regulations. He said that it would be impossible" to obtain such a standard all the year round. '-'-Mr I. Gray moved: "That tho Government, before finally fixing the standard for milk, be requested to make inquiries of scientists, dairymen, mt'lc factory managers, and Government farm managers, and, if necessary, arrange for a series of experiments to ascertain if 3.25 is a fair average test." Mr Millen seconded the motion. Mr Tansley, representing the Milk Vendors Association, agreed that the standard was altogether too high. Mr Pilkington said the; Department seemed bent On increasing the "un'oiy revenue" of the police court by imposing an impossible standard. After further discussion the moiiwt. was carried. y
