WHAKATIKA. LADIES' CLUB.

The annual -meeting of thri Whakatika Hockey Club was held at ihe Town Hall last night. Misa D. Bedford presided. It was decided to ask the f«Ipwing gentlemen to take office. far tte ensuing yearj: — President, Mr G. %• Baily; vice-presidents, Dr. Leatham, Dr. Walker, -Hon. O. Samuel, Messrs W. G. Malorie, F. , T. Bellinger, GTisch, and C. H. Burgess. Miss Etb&l <£enn was elected captain, Miss A. MbE%an vice-captain, JSLiss Ada WhitaEer secretary, Misses E. Smith and G. Colson with captain, yice-captain and secretary selection committee, and Misses N. Hanha and M. Arthur match committee. It was decided to ask- Mr W. P. Nicoll to act as delegate on behalf of the club. Several now members were elected. The report and balance-sheet oisclosed a very healthy position.. The report congratulated members on win* ning the championship for the third successive year. Last year tho Taranaki Ladies' Association had presented a championship shields and the club was the first to have its name on tho shield. The balance-sheet showed a credit balance of £1 16s Bd. . . ' It was decided to ask the Association that as regular Saturday matches woald be unsuitable to. tile club, some of tb,o fixtures should be rearranged for; Thursdays as during last season. . It was decided to register the club's colours, (light blue and white). The first practice will be held on Saturday > next at the Racecourse ground. The championship shield won last 'season by the club will be on view in Mr A. L. Cooke's window, Devon St. NEW CLUB AT : INGLEWOOD. (From Our Own Correspondent.) J A meetfngof hockey enthusiasts was held in Messrs Percival and Messenger's 1 office on Wednesday. Owing to counter attractions and the wet night there was not a very large attendance. Mr G. H. Graham, who occupied the chair, explained that it had been considered that the time was fit for the formation of a Second, hockey club in Inglewood. He moved accordingly. The motion was carried. ' The name selected for. the ciab *aa Kia Ora Hockey Club. It was decided to affiliate with, the Taranaki Hockey Association. ;■ Mr George Beere was appointed secretary. The j subscription was fixed at 7s 6d for playing members and 5s for honorary members. t The colours adopted were blue knickers, white shirt with red sash.
