LOAN AND MERCANTILE HAWERA REPORT.
The Hawem branch of the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Lid., reports: At Opunakg on the 2nd inst. morp than the average number of eatllo were , yarded. There was a good attendance of buyers/ Despite the continued dry tveataer w<* had a successful salo. With the exception of a few woanors ovor)thing wwats t disposed of at a slightly improved price. At Elrham on tho 3rd inst. wo hs>A a #ood yarding of cattle, most of which found buyers. Prices wore about on a par with lato quotations. At liawera on the sth inst. there was a moderate yarding of both cattle and
sheep. There wa« a fair attendance and most lines found buyers, prices showing a slight improvement. We quote : — At Opunake — Weaners (mixed) 15s to 18s 6d, weaner steers (good) 235, empty heifers 295, yearling steers £2 Is, 18-months steers £2 3s 6d to £2 10s, 2-year heifers in calf 335. 2£-year do. £2 10s, springing heifers £i ss, fat cows £3 lls to £4 18s, forward cows £2 15s to £3 3s, store cows £1 14s to £2 os, bulls 36s to £3, store pigs 12s 6d. At Eltham — Weaner steers 18s to 21s, mixed weaners 10s 6d to 14s, 12 to 10-months steers 31s to 395, empty heifers 26s to 31s, springing heifers £3 10s to £3 17s 6d, fat heifers £3 8s to £3 15s, .fat cows £3 18s to £4 ss, forward cows £3 3s to £3 12s, store cows £2 8s to £2 15s, bulls £3 19s to £5. At Hawora — Weaners (mixed) 12s to 14s, yearling steers £1 6s to £1 10s, 2 to 2£-year heifers £2 Is to £2 7s 6d 5 fat heifers £8 6s to £3 10s, 2J-ycar steers £3 7s, fat cows £3 14s to £4 ss, store bullocks £4 4s to £4 ss, forward cows £2 16s to £3 Is, store cows £2 to £2 12s, bulls £2 10s to £4, 2 and 4tooth Lincoln ewes (purebred) 20s, Lincoln ewe lambs (purebred) 16s, cull lambs 3s to 4s Bd, 2-tooth wethers lls, f.m. breeding ewes 6s 7d, aged rams 9s 6d to los 6d, weaner pigs ss, store pigs 18s.
