The man Smith, who was charged with the murder of Clinton at Day-* dawn on January 5, was found guilty and sentenced to death. . Bloomer 'an* Potter were found guilty of ■ having been accessories after the fact, but a recommendation to mercy was added on the ground that they were under Smith's influence. They were sentenced to six months' imprisonment. ' {A blacksmith named Clinton, living at JDaydawn, was set upon by three men and shot dead. His body was thrown down a mining shaft. Potter, Smith, and -Bloomer -were immediately arrested.] "
