P. McCarty applied to sub-let section 18, block 16, Kaupokonui, to M. Mullally . — Approved. The Mokau-iti branch of the New Zealand Farmers' Union asked that 5 a site for a township be provided on section 10, block 2, Aria^-Resolved that the time has not arrived for the necessity of laying out a township and that the Commissioner be empowered to call for tenders from year to year. Morrell and Lyford appealed against, the forfeiture of section 3, block 6, v Ohura. — Under the exceptional circumstances the forfeiture was rescinded and the 7 selectors were given three months' farther extension to either reside on' the land or transfer it. James Lowe applied to select section i 3, block 14, Upper Waitara, S.D.—Refused. W- G. Fargie applied to sub-divide section 165, block 1, Mahoe, and transfer portion to A. Agostineli.-^-Approved in terms of section 12 of the Land Act Amendment Act, 1895. James Smith applied to sub-let ten acres of section 17, block 11, Mimi, to the Uruti Sports Club.— Deferred. The €rown Lands Ranger, Mr E. Tolme, reported having resumed possession of the following forfeited sections : -^Section 1, block 15, Ohura ; section 1, block 12, Ohura; section 4, block 7, Ware. The reports were adopted as. amended; the land to be reofjerpd under optional tenure, the conditions of. personal residence to be enforced as noted. The Ranger's report on improvements effected by W. Laws on section 7, block, 11, > Aria, was read.— Report adopted; tenant to be .called faj>on to complete the improvements required. El Townshend applied for the title to section 8, block 10, Totoro, Aria Dairy Factory site, to be issued to him.-p Sale recommended for the approval of the Minister of Lands.
H. Clark complained that owing to the requirements of the Dairy Inspector he had to put a concrete floor to his cowshed and had only held the section a" little over twelve months. — Tae Commissioner's letter to the selector was a'pproVed. B. and G. O'Reilley applied to convert tKe tenure of section 5, block . 5, Kapara, to freehold. — Granted. The appeal of Martha Hastie against the forfeiture of sections 11, 13, 16, 17, block I, Taurajcawa, was further considered, and an application was'received to transfer' 'tae land to G. Holmes. — Recommended , for Minister's approval. The Ranger's valuation of unallotted sections in Spotswood Settlement was 'again considered. — Resolved to inspect ! the bettleftient* on March 18. { C. Wright, solicitor for P. Ja?kaoii, asked what length of residence- will be necessary before the transfer .to C. Weston will be considered. — Mr Weston waited on the Board. — The Board saw no reason to alter its previous decision, and as to residence was unable to make any compact with the parties concerned, W. J. Laurnet applied to purchase section 639, Patea district, adjoining his farm. — Not entertained. Messrs Parker Bros, applied to have tenure of S.G. Run, sec. 11, block 9, Opaku, converted to a license with right of purchase, as they find their present tenure unsuitable for certain reasons. — Accepted under the circumstances; the Board to re-offer the land under optional conditions weighted with the valuation for improvements. E. Tolme reported on the inspection of 56 holdings, comprising 36.385 acres. Improvements, required value £5070, effected £11,695; 33 selectors resident, lof whom 7 are required to reside, 3 jhavo not complied in this respect, and G have not effected sufficient improvements. — J y Barron, Crown Lands Ran^ ger, reported on the inspection of 5/ holdings, comprising an area of 35,224 acres. Improvements required, value £6896; effected, £16,928; 23 selectors resident; of these 13 are required to reside, 4 have failed to comply with tthe conditions in this respect, 13 have made improvements, and 2 have not effected sufficient improvements. — Adopted > notice to be given to those who had effected no improvements, and who had not resided, to show cause by next meeting why their holdings should not be forfeited, and those ,who had x>thenvise not complied to be reminded of fcheir failure. Skerup and Tickner explained why sufficient improvements had not been effected on sees. 4, block 1 and 13, bloc* 5, , Ohura. — Six months' extension given to brijng improvements up, to ■date. D. W. Paulger was reported to have effected no improvements on sec. i, block 12,, Upper Waitara. — Section u*colared forfeited.
