SMART ROAD CLAY.
♦ Per Fress Association. WELLINGTON, December 20. Trials h/ive been made in Wellington with the kaolin clay found near New Plymouth, in order to test its suitability for the manufacture of pottery. A number of articles havo been made of excellent colour, texture, and appearance.' It is considered that when tho articles, which comprise firebricks, drainpipes, tiles, etc., are burnt in a kiln that does, not contaiu ordinary firebricks, the results will exceed those already obtained.
