At the Waitara Magistrate's Court to-day, writes our correspondent, the Labour Department brought a charge against/ the .Mokau Timber Company of failing to pay wages within the time specified by law. Captain J. Williamson has arrived at Waitara with his new steamer the s.s. Petoitoi, which is to be used for the Tongaporutu, Mokau, Awakino and Marakopa trade. The steamer is 71 feet long, 16 feet 6 inches in beam, and 5 feet deep. Her draught is only 3" feet 9 inches. She has a speed of 9 knots.
