GERMAN COURT SCANDALS.
SCENE IN THE REICHSTAG. A PARTY SQUABBLE. By Electric Telegraph. — Copyright. BERLIN, December 5. Herr Hermann Paasdio, tho National Liberal vice-president of tho Diet, startled the Reichstag by offering to produce Hohenau's compromising letters submitted to a Potsdam Court Martial twenty-four hours before. General von Einem stated that nothing was proved against Hohenau. The uproar was increased by Herr Lattman, anti-Semitic, remarking that Herr Paasche's son was engaged to the nieco of Herr Harden, the editor who recently attacked Hohenau, Lynar, Moltko and others. General von Einem replied reiterating his previous statement and minimising the meaning of Hohenau 's letter, and adding that Hohenau and Lynar placed themselves at tho disposal of the Court of Inquiry. • This led to an ajbrupt adjournment of the debate, brought about by the votes of the Bloc, consisting of Conservatives, National : Liberals, Anti-Semites and Radicals. (The Bloc usually supports the Government.) The Social Democrats asked the reason of the adjournmoni. Herr Bassermann saad that it was to study Herr Einem's Teply. Y-v . "The North German Gazette lifts the veil, and explains that before Genera] von Einem replied, Prince Buelow, summoning the leaders of the Bloc, informed them that it was impossible to continue the general policy f o the Government if the parties composing the Bloc attacked the Government and each other. He suggested an adjournment to enable the Bloc to consider the;position. Bloc journals declare that Prince Buelow threatened to resign unless the parties would harmoniously support him. With reference to the allegation made in the Diet regarding the relations of Herr Horden's niece, the Daily Telegraph explains that Herr Hardens daughter is engaged to Herr Witting,, a banker, and one of the ablest National Liberal Deputies in the Prussian Diet. * Reuter's agent at Berlin declares that the main question giving rise to dissension in the Bloc is that appertaining to -taxation. The National Liberals favour direct taxes; the Federal Council opposes. THE REAL TROUBLE. A DEFICIT TQ BE MET. (Received December 6, 8.34 a.m.) LONDON, December 5.
