I «*k> __ ' There. was a 'good, attendance at, the annual meeting of the Women's Christian. Temperance Union at the Baptist Church on Wednesday. The work of the year was reviewed. .It was stated tfiat the Union might congratulate itself on its increasing influence. All the officers of the past year were reelected: — President, Mrs. A. S. Douglas; corresponding secretary, Miss Ambury; recording secretary, Mrs. Edwin Chatterton ; treasurer, Miss Sadler ; •vice-presidents, Mrs. Maunder,. Mm. Brooke, Mrs. Lewis. \ The superintendents of work are as i follow : — Dorcas work, Mrs. Boon ; maternity box, Mrs E. Bullot; ladies' room, Mrs. Brash; literature, Mrs. Douglas; cradle roll, Mrs. F. Okey; prison and rescue work. Miss Ahier ; x'arliamentary and legal work, Miss Douglas; "White Ribbon" agent, Miss Taunt. | In the report on the ladies' room mention was made of the great number of visitors who expressed their appreciation of the kindness that provided such a comfortable room Tor them . The hope was expressed that more liberal support would be given by the public, as the contribution box had not yielded funds this year for the upkeep of the room. Mention was also made of the thoughtless , conduct of some of the visitors, who abused their privileges by destroying the property of the Union. Votes of thanks were passed to all those who had held office last year, to church trustees, to Mr. S. B. White for douations. of literature, and to Mr. Logic.
