•A general meeting of the Institute was .held at Stratford on Saturday afternoon. There was a fair attendance! of teachers, and the president, Ms. J« W. Mail, occupied the chair. Mr Meyenberg moved and Mr Tyre* seconded: "That the inspectors bo thanked for placing the pupil teachers'special examination just before the mid-* winter holidays, and that they be re« quested to send to head teachers early in the year a statement of the practical work to bo taken." The secretary was appointed trtißle^l of the Institute's bank account in placet ! of Messrs Grant and Gray. * I The president reported the resulll tii the interview with the inspectors rex specting ihe scheme of manual work.The scheme Wasmodified and the^secre-* ibaiiry was instructed to send the - taew} scheme, to the inspectors for approval, with a recommendation that teachers should adopt it as a basis for theii< manual work. The consideration of a scheme of work for pupil teachers was deferred till after Christmas. Tho secretary reported that 71 mem-< bers had paid their subscriptions foB the year, which was a record in the bis-* tory of tho institute. • The majority of the teachers of Taranaki now belong to tho Institute, most of the non-members beinp; teachers who are away, in tho bajk-blccks of th« district.* •
