BOWLING.

The New Plymouth Bowling Club's green was opened yesterday afternoon for practice, when there was a good muster of players, all eager for a game. In spite of the incessant rains of the last six weeks the green was in capital order, thanks to the caretaker, Mr Alf . Alciridge, who had really only a day and a half to prejmre it, for the rain did not cease until Tuesday night. The success of his treatment was shown by the excellent bowling for a first practice. If the weather holds fine the ,greeru will be open on Thursdays and Saturdays until further notice. The Club has enrolled several new members, while in Mr A. K. Smart, who has come from Stratford to reside in New Plymouth, it has acquired a player of the first rank.
