SCOUNDERELISM AT TARATA.
- i (To the Editor.) - , , Sir, — The scoundrels of Tarata have evidently' taken coiirage since the verdicsb of the "Grand^ Jury" in the -celebrated Opunake tar and feathering case. The particulars , aije l>rieny as follows. My wife's pdily accidently got out of the paddock on ( tb the 1 road. Apparently as sbdn as, the shades of evening ca|ne on she fell into the' hands of this coxerie of J&ends. 7W e^> c was no * tayrep an^ feathered ; quite the reverse. They did not leave so much hair on her tail and mane asj&o_ make a bald-headed man to feel -envious. Now, Mr Editor, is >this a glass of joke to be encouraged? I think not. I have placed the matter in* the hands of ! the police, and in so doing I am acting under the unanimous recommendation of ' all those who have seen the horse, and who declare it not dijly a disfigurement but cruelty to animals. — % am, etc., t ' G. A. GAUSTAD.
