ENTERPRISING BURGLARS.
Per Press Association. DiUNEDIN, August 20.' The premises of Hogg and Co., timber merchants, Rattray Street, were entered by burglars last night or this morning. The thieves used explosives in an endeayour, to blow open the safe, but the attempt failed. The lock was damaged' to such'an^extetot that it could nbt be opened morning. 'No-* things wjas stolen. />hr^,f' . Palmer's quarry, at Logajn's 'Point, was broken into during the' night by thieves. The magazino at tjie quarry was entered and a quantity of ftttfe and explosives taken awayIt is supposed that both outrages were tho work of the same gfeng. oo far no trace of the offenders has been discovered. ' THAMES, August 21. So far the police have failed to discover any traces of the safe robberies which would lead to the identification, of the robbers. Most of the amalgam had been removed to the bank on the preceding day, and only about £30 worth was in the safe.
