Kaid Sir Harry Maclean is journeying to Fez under an escort of Hackmass tribesmen.
(The story of the treacherous capture of the Kaid by Raisuli is told in English papers which arrived to-day. The Kaid was acting for the Shereefian Government in an attempt to negotiate a peace with and a pardon for Raisuli, who had been an outlaw since December. Tho capture took place in the Kmasa mountain district near Tetuan. Sir H. Maclean was deceived by a ruse of Raisuli. When tho Kaid arrived at a rendezvous; upon which. they had previously arranged, he foimd that Raisuli had a messenger awaiting him, stating that the tribes feared an ambush of the Imperial troops, and therefore would confer with Sir Harry. Maclean only if he came to the brigand's camp without an escort. Sir Harry Maclean, trusting entirely to Raisuli, proceeded with four -men to Kmass, where he was informed that he was detained until Rai- | suli made his own terms direct with the i Sultan).
