TARATA.

Mr and Mrs Rodolphe Martin De St. Laurent celebrated on August oth, at Tarata, their golden wedding. A largo number of members of the family and friends assembled to pay respect to the well-known and popular couple. Over eighty sat down to dinner in the even-^ ing. Afterwards Mr R. Patterson made a presentation of two handsome plushcovered arm-chairs, the gifts of the residents of Tarata. Mr Patterson looked upon the golden wedding as being one of the greatest events in the history of Tarata. He hoped Mr and Mrs Laurent would accept the present as a token of respect from their friends and the settlers of the district. Mr G. Baxter proposed the toast of the couple. MiLaurent, in replying, said he was pleased to see so many friends around him. He thanked them on behalf of his wife and himself for the presents, and hoped that many of them would live to see their golden weddings. Mr and Mrs Laurent were also the recipients of many handsome and useful presents from their sons, daughters, grandchildren, and friends.
