nm, % THE SCOW BftAVO. ALL HANDS SAFE. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, July 30. The* scow Bravo was carried ashore at , Pontana Bay, close to Whangarei, on Monday night. The scow had anchored in a sheltered position, but the anchors dragged, and the vessel was swept ashore. The crew all landed safely. The scow is said to be on a sandy beach, and to have sustained no damage. She was bound from Ngunguru to Paeroa. The crew is standing by the vessel, and it is expected she will be floated without much difficulty. The Bravo was ashore near Cape Maria Van Diemen in January last. She was floated off, and came to Auckland, where she was repaired. She is owned by a local syndicate. , The master^ telegram to the local agents (Northern Coal Company) is as follows:— ''During an easterly gale the Bravo dragged her two anchors and carried away the cable. There is a chance of getting her off if- the weather* moderates, but at present it is impossible to do. anything, as the seas are bareaking bvfer^tljie hull aMI rigging. The crew are all. on shore." i It has been decided to send a scow to Pontana Bay tp take off -the. Bravo'a cargo of co^l. A tugboat wil then tow the Bravp off the beach. ' A 'SHIP DISABLED. AUCKLAND, July 30. 1 The ship McDiarmid, from Newcastle, bound for a South African port, lyis arrived at Auckland disabled. She encountered a heavy gale soon after leaving Newcastle. The ,fjQr,etopniast was carried away at the cap; but apparently the vessel sustained no other damage.
