NOXIOUS WEEDS.
The Noxious Weeds Act Amendment Hill was considered in Committee. An
. mondment by Mr Rutherford to exempt portions of Aniuri and Cheviot Counties from the operations of the Bill was subsequently withdrawn. During the discussion Mr Sta.lwothy referred to the time when M- Alison was fined under the Noxious Weeds Act for failing to clear his lanl M weeds. Mr Alison stated that the prosecution was tt political one. ■ % v The Hon. Mr Duncan, who was Mjnhter for Lands at the time, denied that i'c was a political prosecution. It had rever been brought under his notice in ; ny way until that day. The discussion proceeded till the I.'ouse adjourned at 5.30 p.m.
