ACCLIMATISATION.

FISH FOR NEW ZEALAND.

Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, July 18. A deputation^ from the Acclimatisation Societies' Conference waited on members of the Ministry for the purpose of presenting resolutions passed at the conference the previous day. Sir Joseph Ward said he was personally in sympathy with the desire to coriserve our ganie from unsportsmanlike destruction. He would do his best to have the recommendations of the conference carried, into effect. The Hon. J. A. Millar said he had not heard anything about the destruction of whitebait in the rivers, and would have to make inquiries before the supply to the public could be checked. If it were practicable to introduce haddock and herring to New Zealand waters, he would placo a sum on the Estimates to meet the cost. He would ask for a sum this year for the purpose of getting Atlantic salmon.
