WANGANUI, July 18.
The Wanganui Rugby Union to-night decided to challenge Auckland for the Ranfurly Shield.
THE NORTH TEAM.
On Thursday evening Messrs. A. Humphries (New Plymouth) and D. Malone (Stratford) selected the northern representatives to play in the test match. They point out that there are no certainties for the forward division of the representatives, and each man playing in the trial is to be dealt with on his merits. The following were selected :—: — /
Full-back — Hardgraves (Tukapa). Three-quarters — Hooker (Tukapa) , Potier (Inglewood), E. Kivell (Stratford). Five-eightht» — Div« (Eltham), Cameron (Stratford). Half— Atkin (Tukapa).
Wing— Rothery (Clifton). Forwards—Allan (Star), B. Kivell (Stratford), J. Young (Stratford), Ryan (Star), Fearon (Stratford), Crowley (Tukapa), Storey (Tukapa). Emergencies. — Backs — Pike, (Star), Fearon (Stratford). Forwards — McCracken (Eltham), Davidson (Clifton).
