CUSTOMS RETURNS.

A RECORD QUARTER.

The Customs revenues for the Junta quarter (closing to-day) were the hignV est yet received in New Plymouth. This is remarkable since the returns for this quarter are usually the lowest in the year. The total was £9705 8s 9d. The best previous quarter was the December quarter, last- year, when the revenue reached" £9097 -3s lOd. The total for the June quarter last year was £7100 0s 6d — nearly £2700 less than for the present quarter. The returns for the month of June also show a grea^ advance on thqse of last year.
