At next general election the Opposition candidate — presumably Mr K H. Okoy, M.H.R. — will not have the support of the Opppsition stronghold, 4 Hahotu, which is excluded from the Taranaki electorate by the alteration of the boundaries. At the other end of the electorate Lepperton is taken in. This centre was in the Egmont electorate at last election. The, voting there was 47 for Mr W. T. Jennings (Government) and 54 for Mr Leech (Opposition). On the whole, therefore, it appears that the alterations in the boundaries do not appreciably favour either the Government or the Opposition.
