A boat capsized while crossing the bar at Inverlocn, and three, ladies — Misses, 3radley, Newman, and Miller — were drowned. Four other occupa*nts were rescued. (Per Press Association.) INVERCARGILL, May 19. The body of a farmer named John Day, of "VKaitaka, was found in an outhoiise at .the Shamrock Hotel this morning under circumstances suggesting suicide. Deceased came to town on Thursday evening, and engaged a room at the* Shamrock. He slept there that night, and next day was apparently busy about town-. He had his meals at the hotel, and in the evening was in the smokingroom. He seemed to be suffer mg.frqms a nervous* and depressing troubled \afl(s; told several people in* the house thai; he had met with great trouble on Saturday morning. He was seen to enter the outhouse, which .was not entered by.fanjr" body else during the day. Early this morning Mr McAuliffe discovered the body. There was a wound in the throat made by a pocket knife. ' r DARGAVILLE. May 20. Matthew Robinson, an elderly man, fell overboard from the steamer v Waiwera between here and Graham's 'Fern at 9on Saturday night. The body has not been recovered.
