LETTER FRANKING.

THE GOVERNMENTS :£Cp&OMY.: £Cp&OMY. Writing to the Taranaki Education Board concerning the Government's, action in withdrawing from public bodies the privilege of franking letters, Mr. W. T. Jennings, M.H.R., said: "While I am satisfied that some curtailment in various directions was necessary*! cannot see any reason for the wholesale withdrawal. It means a lot of unnecessary work and no result. I shall gladly support the protest of the Board." Mr. Jennings enclosed a, letter from the Minister of Education, iton. G. Fowlds, stating that the abolition of the franking system was a matter of policy which tho Government had carried out with < a full knowledge of all tjic circumstances, and that it was quite unable to make any exception to it. Mr. Jennings' letter was received. At the meeting of the Moturoa Lodge of Druids, held last Monday, Grand President Bro. Gilbert installed Bro. H. J. Hobbs as District President- at the conclusion of tho ceremony. Bro. Hobbs returned thanks' to the members of Moturoa, Inglewpod, and Okato Lodges for electing Kirn to that important position.
