The Grand Jury at San Francisco returned $5 indictments charging Ruef with acting as intermediary in' bribery in connection with the overhead trolley deal on behalf of the United Railroads, nnd other acts of corruption; also ten indictments against Halse, formerly the Pacific States telephone and telegraph company's general agent, for bribery.
