Rafting and other important matters were dealt with. A letver was road from Mr Jennings re 1 afi':r_g. He had no hesitation in saying; ihere would be no chance of getting a bill through the House, but recommer> led that the position be fully explained to Mr McNab, when he visits Tauaiurunui. Drafc rules Vor rafting v*ere submitted, and include^ — No raft to exceed 6000 sup. feet of sawn timber, and only sav/n timber to be floated ; certain fees pnyable to the River Trust; settlers on the river to. Jbe bound by bond of £50, all other cases £500 for each company or individual using the river for rafting; copies of regulations with letters u> be forwarded to the Maori Land Board, Wanganui Chamber oi' Commerce, ar.d River Trust. Mr Boh asked a question about the propos'd hospital, and said that £1500 was granfled and the plans prepared long tincv, and various districts in our immediate vicinity waiting to hold Hospitnl Sunday. To Kuiti saw a bit of life thi6 week. On Tuesday the sports wefcs held, on Wednesday there was a sale pi town leaser, and on Thursday -r the Maori Land Board held a sitting, s large number of Maoris beilig present.
Tho Rev. E. M. Ryburn, M.A., preached to full congregations here on Su-n'lay last. ' The rev. gentleman's discourses were very instructive and interesting. At Tawnarunui the choir sang special hymns. Mr Rjburn is a popular Wanganui minister, and is the Chairman and Moderator of the Presbyterian Maori Mission.' s
At a meeting of ladies yesterday it was decided to hold the bazaar in aid of the Church of England building fund on 20 Lh April. For some weeks past the ladies have been engaged j making articles for the bazaar,, and it is expected thotre -will be a very good display and up to the present everything is O.K. *
The Mangaroa town hall is nearing completion, and, another store has been erected.

Hitherto there, have been 64. children within a radius o£ three miles from a point who have received no education, unless tbey have been sent but to various parts of tho colony wherever $lafcir relations or nearest friends may have resided. .It is estimated there are now r^tween GOO and 700 settlers in the Ohurn district.
