THE DAMAGE TO WELLINGTON'S WATERWORKS. t 'Si (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, March 20. The work of repairing the -damage to the pipe bridges which «sarry the water mains supplying . Wellington from the Wainui-o-mata reservoir began ,to-6Jay, and the contractor is confident the work will be completed in three weeks. Work is being carried on continuously day and night, the latter shift being aided by electric light. Wellington's share of the recent heavy rain was nearly three inches, spread principally over three, days— -Saturday 0.47 inches, Sunday 0.69 inches, Monday 1.67 inches. The meteorological office reports that plenty more rain seems to be imminent. During the past 24 hours rain visited most parts of the country, and it is predicted that showers may again be general.,
