THE MONOWAI DELAYED THROUGH BREAKDOWN.

Sydney, March 21. — The Monowai's passage was twelve hours longer than usual through the pumps in the engineroom breaking down.

During the last twelve months twelve turbine steamers have been launched in the* United Kingdom, namely : Lusitania, . 32,000 tons ; Mauretania, 32,000 tons ; Rewa, 7267 tons ; St. George, 2456 tons; St. Patrick, 2387 tons; St. David, 2387 tons; Immmgham, 2000 tons; Marylebone, 1940 tons ; Viper, 1719 tons ; Kingfisher, 871 tons ; Duchess of Argyll,. 583, t0n5; Atalanta, 486 tons. In addition to the two large express steamers for the Cunard Company mentioned above,' there are at present under construction in the United Kingdom seven merchant vessels of ahout 31,500 tons, which are to be fitted with steam turbines.
